Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
Number Plates:
SL0AN
Driver/Ownership:
2009 - Current: Sloan Cox
History:
2009 would see a step up in car from the older Mitsubishi Evo 8 for young Sloan Cox, with the upgrade to the latest spec Mitsubishi Evo X for what would be a full campaign by Cox Motorsport in the New Zealand Rally Championship. 2009 would see Sloan learn a lot, and develop as a driver, however unfortunately the car suffered a major crash at Rally Nelson 2009.
The Cox Motorpsort team would rebuild the car for the 2010 season, and Cox would continue to build his experience with successive campaigns in the car. Cox continued to impress despite his young age, and with more rallies in the car under his belt, he begin to assert himself as a driver at the pointy end of the field, dominating the Junior category at the same time. In 2012 Sloan used the car to win the 2012 NZ Hillclimb Champs. New NZRC rules moving away from Group N would see upgrades to the car, including lighter new panels, with weight being negative aspect that the production based Group N cars had at the time.
In the Evo X Sloan is now well asserted as one of the top running contenders with his potential rally winning pace. Further upgrades in 2016 would see a Sequential Gearbox fitted.
